Ardnamurchan · 2021

Inverchaoalin Church

Built in 1912 and reopened as a community hall. Roof slate lifted and relaunched; the original cast-iron fittings were conserved in place rather than replaced.

Mull of Kintyre · 2022

Ardnadam Pier

Built in 1858 and returned to the sea. Concrete re-pointing matched to the original aggregate; a new timber walkway carries foot traffic off the historic pier face.

Ardnamurchan · 2024

Ardnadam Reservoir

A 1903 water supply scheme stabilised and given a public edge. Weir stonework cleaned in lime; a viewing platform cantilevers over the spillway.

Argyll · 2025

Invereck Cottage

Built in 1855, this blackhouse cottage was brought back into use. Stone walls were re-pointed in lime, the slate roof rebuilt, and a discreet timber extension added to the rear.

(b) Philosophy

Patina in, joinery in.

We treat weathering as a record, not a defect. Where a wall has taken a century of rain, we leave it. Where a building needs to work again, we add clean, contemporary joinery beside it — never against it.

Conservate, then extend

New use is added around the old, not poured over it. The historic fabric is the load-bearing story of the building.

Materials read as time

Lime mortars, cast stone, reclaimed timber. New work is legible from a distance and honest up close.

Built with the community

Parish councils, heritage bodies and local trades are consulted from the first survey, not the final approval.
